done with my eyes closed
I have always wanted to write, well not always, but most of my adult life. As a child, I just wanted to read and read and read. I actually wanted to be a veterinarian, but I could not wrap my head around some of the chemistry and none of the calculus. (Seriously, why do you need calculus to take care of animals. ) In university, it was suggested to me that I pursue a degree in literature. Then, the counselor told me, I could become a teacher. (YUCK! I quit.)
I changed the directory of my life, got a loving husband, had three beautiful daughters, and filled my world with a plethora of dogs, cats, birds and a couple of reptiles.
Like the prairie weather, my writing is forever changing.
I was born on the Canadian Prairies in the 60’s to wonderful parents who instilled in me pride and the power of living a good life. Fragments of my childhood are cobbled together into new characters who often ride with me as I drive down Highway 6 or some bumpy gravel road. They tell me their stories when I have not a pen or paper, forcing me to listen and pay attention.
Life is busier than ever, so obviously this is the best time to write.
Today, I have to go to a wedding. An outdoor wedding. It is November 2! Often, in Winterpeg, Manisnowba, we have 4 or 5 inches of snow by this time. Fortunately, no snow yet this year, but it is cold. Just above freezing. (I hope the bride has her parka and mitts.)
I love writing short stories, I have a novel (or two) in the works and a “monthly” news letter called “Thru the Window” that I started in 2020.

I have been a part of many writing groups and have learned something new and fantastic from everyone of them. I am looking forward to the lessons I will learn from #Nonopoblano2024.
Fun fact that everyone needs to know about me:
My favorite breakfast is crispy bacon and strawberry jam on homemade white toast.
